I'm contemplating replacing my poppet valve. Are the parts available to do so (i.e. valve, crush washer, etc.)?

A fuel injection shop would have or could get all parts in the ds4.

This valve your talking about, would it be the control valve operated by the solenoid or is it the delivery valves?

The poppet valve operated by the fuel control solenoid.

Here is where I'm at:

My 96 GMC is not running. At first I thought it was PMD's because when it would die, I could get it going by chaning the PMD. Now it will not start with any of the PMDs I have.

I used my oscilloscope on another running 96 gmc to see what the signals going in & out of the PMD should look like. I even tried one of my PMDs on that truck and it ran fine.

I then checked the signals on my truck and they are the same. At least when I crank mine, the signals look the same.

I then used a jumper wire to energize the fuel contol solenoid on mine and I can here it clicking, but that does not mean it is working properly.

I put a gauge on the transferpump pressure port of the DS4 and it is getting about 20 - 30 PSI while cranking, so I know I'm getting fuel to the hydralic head.

I figured if I energized the fuel control solenoid with the jumper while cranking the engine, the worst that would happen is the engine would take off like full throttle. I could then quickly remove the jumper &/or turn the key off. I tried that but the truck still doesn't start. I even removed one of the injection lines, but no fuel is getting out of the injection pump.

I figure something mechanical is not letting the hydralic head build up pressure. The poppet vavle seems to be the most likely cause.

I'd appreciate anybody's thoughts or ideas.

thanks

Get GMTDScan Tech for your laptop, check it out further - or, hit the fone book, try that place over on Navigation\Canal area.

Only time that FS thing was done, the guy had a fresh rebuilt IP, pulled it apart for show and tell, screwed it back together - meaning, it was bench calibrated, so pop the FS cover, put it back same position, can't go wrong..............maybe

I'm not familiar with GMTDScan Tech. What is that and where do I get it?

Yep, I have been to that place. That is where I was going to try if no one here had better ideas. I'm going to be out of town this week, so it will have to wait till next week though.

Scan won't work for your '96, anyway - you'd need one of the OBD2 pcware offerings.
