Hi all,

My Suburban is doing well with 190K on the clock. The recent Peninsular Diesel engine is running well. Much stronger than the stock motor, which I had hopped up quite a bit. My concern is the longevity of the 4L80E behind a 300+ hp engine. I have always babied the tranny with Mobil 1, hoping it would last a long time.

I wonder if/when the transmissions blows I could swap in a 5 speed rather easily.? I'm looking for some bolt-in stuff from another GM truck that would work. I realize that drive shaft lengths would change. Any other gotchas? Anyone done this before? I'd really like to shift for myself instead of leaving that up to the slushbox.

All parts would more than likely bolt on. May need a comp reflash or a comp out of a 5sp truck.

It would be easy. Everything would bolt on. The pedals even are swapable. Plus with the hydrolic clutch theres no linkage to do either.
