sry for another thread on this programmer, ive done much reading on it and am pretty sure this is the one to get but id like to get a few doubts and questions out before i get it.

first off, from my research and reading the level 2 seems to be the highest level to run on a stock tranny unloaded or with a light load, and level 1 with a heavy load, sometimes stock tune? i plan on adding the transgo kit later on but no time soon, so would that be enough to run it on level 3?

second, im aware this has the egt probe and guage built in, which is one reason for me wanting this programmer over the juice/attitude. also from reading from edges site it says something about boost readings, does it have a boost guage built in as well?

third, i see it comes with a mounting pod that mounts on the far left hand side of the dash, am i correct? but can the evo be mounted in the a-pillar mount like the attitude? also if the mounting pod on the dash is installed would i also be able to install the guage pod in the a-pillar with 2 or 3 guages?

thanks for all yalls help!

I plan on a Sucoast 3 for running level 3, 2 should be fine with a transgo. Yes there is a boost gauge. And yes it can be mounted in a pillar, I did it to mine, as it helped with the aweful blind spot that the dash pod made. I love mine by the way.....no complaints.

thanks! thats what i keep hearing about them. i think ill try it with the pod it comes with and see how i like it, atleast now i know it will fit in the a-pillar incase the dash pod isnt so good. is the boost guage accurate? so you would suggest leaving it at level 1 for daily driving and every so often bump it to level 2? wat level do you run urs on most often? i think ill get it ordered monday! oh also by any chance did you notice your truck smoking more with the evo?

I leave mine in 2, I have run it in 3 for a few days but it seems like all the power doesnt get to the ground. Yes it smokes in 2 and 3, especially in 4th if you give it gas and let off real quick it will smoke pretty good. Level 1 is actually pretty surprising so its your call.

I'm running on #2 and the delay on the shifts worry me a little. I've had it in for around 70 mi.s and it's gotten much better but still scary in my mind. I'm curious about the Transgo Jr. and the shifting specifics in 2nd and 3rd settings myself. I'm going to try to get my Transgo in here in the next week, my time is limited.

I'm running mine on #2, #1 didn't seem like much of an increase.#2 feels like my '04 lb7 did with hypertech set on 90 hp. Egt's the same @65 on any level.

I honestly wouldnt worry about hurting the trans unless you abuse it in level 3. The Allison is stronger than what people give it credit for. The truth is daily driving in level 3 you will be fine. Do 4wd boosted launches, well, thats another story. It will take a little while however, to get it shifting normal in level 3.

When I say I'm worried about the tranny set on #2, I mean getting 100K out of it with that setup with a little towing too. #2 makes some pretty serious power, I think the Transgo is in order right off the bat or the tranny may be coming out with burnt plates at 50K. Just seat of the pants, gut feeling on this.

I run mine on #2 most of the time. It took nearly a week before the defueling was completly gone on mine. I ran the piss out of it on #3 for a couple of days and never limped it or got any codes. The engine seemed to make a lot of noise on level 3 compared to 2. I think I will leave mine on level 2. Power is great.

You gotta give it more time to learn. Is that stop and go traffic or hwy.? It will never adjust with just hwy. driving. The harder you run it on level 2 the faster it will learn just stay away from the 4-5 shift at WOT untill it starts to shift right. Mine stays on 2 and shifts like normal.
As far as for towing do not tow over 5K on level 2 and if towing heavy on 1 the EGT gauge is a must.

ordered it today. probably will pick it up on friday and have it installed friday or saturday. from my understanding on level 1 u dont get very high egts, so would it be safe for me to run it in level 1 without the egt probe?

The thing I found about programmers on my other trucks is, you can get on it but don't stay on it hard for prolonged periods of time unloaded. Towings a whole other deal. I haven't run gauges on my last two trucks, but I have a real good feel for where I can go with it since I had two trucks with gauges. Famous last words..

Drill the hole using a 5/ 16 or a 21/64” drill bit, then tap it with a 1/8” NPT tap.
This not a common thread tap. Most people do not have this on hand. Bought mine at Lowe's. IIRC around 8-10 bucks.
thanks! i have a few hardware stores including lowes, hd, ace, and a few others so i hope atleast one of them have it. try and get one 2day before i pick it up 2moro. cant wait!

got the edge installed today! was very impressed. this is my first diesel truck and was suprised of the power in level one. which is where ive left it for the most part so far. put it in level 2 for a short trip, havent installed the egt probe just yet, finally found the right size tap so i hope to tackle that tomorrow.

but what i noticed is in level 1 it at first shifted great, but it later and only once defueled. in level 2 i didnt let it do its shifting just got in the gas at 4th or 5th and let it pull, and boy did it pull lol. once i get the probe in ill be running it in level 2 some more and probably do a run in 3. but plan on leveling it in 2 for the most part.

but overall i am very pleased with it, installed great and havent had any problems yet!

oh what temp on egts should i look out for? 1200?

Glad you like it, Did you do the update yet? I went from 2 to 3 today and it showed an error and had to unplug. The update is a fix for this. And I set my EGT alert to 1350
