How long do the alternators seem to last?

I have an intermitent battery light and the batteries are almost new and the cable connections are tight and clean.

Alternators are like a box of choclates.

Most of the time around 100k the bearing starts to make noise so I change it in my experiance

I have had one go bad in 15-20k miles.

Then if you don't buy the "good" replacement it will last you about 2-3 months.

Rebuilt? did not think you could do that anymore with the sealed casing. Ahh the old days of changing brushes. Some of my first experiances with vehicles. Sitting in dads garage. I'm sure that asbestos brake dust I was covered in head to toe did not hurt at all either.

I would hafta agree with that, it all depends how it was made, in my old 02 Chevy K-1500 I went through 5 in 104k miles! But they were all lifetime warantee and really easy to put in. It was from having a high power stereo system and going muddin all the time and caking it with mud and rinsing off with water. I did have dual batteries but not till like 75k miles
