2001-2004 Light Duty Trucks


with Allison® 5-Speed Automatic Transmission (RPO M74)


This bulletin is to inform dealers that some vehicles may exhibit an inability to shift the transmission after operating in slush, snow or icy conditions. Investigation may show a build-up of ice on the transmission around the shift cable to manual shaft connection.





A transmission shield that will protect the shift cable/manual shaft area from snow and ice build-up is available through aftermarket automotive parts suppliers.





The transmission shield, P/N 700028, will protect the shift cable/manual shaft area from snow and ice build-up.

Thats more to protect the cable actually. I think it will do more harm then good on the nsbu as the ice may collect behind that shield and have a better chance of entering the switch.. just my opinion on that

I thought the same thing, but obviously someone at the General thinks this will help...
Have you seen this kit?

no, I havent. Might have to order one it just to check it out. I dont like the idea though, but I could be overthinking this

I have a stupid question about this. Why is it a TSB yet also says it is not a warranty item. Aren't TSB's supposed to be done under warranty?

nope, dont have to warranty them, look at the odlo switches....
