Hi, I would like some info. on servicing my allison transmission. The manaul dosn`t cover any thing on it. I have 30,000 miles on it and the truck is not worked to hard. Can I just drain the fluid by removing the plug and replace the screw on filter? If so, how much fluid and what type? Thanks

Do a search for servicing the allison. There have been many threads posted on this topic. There is also alot of information in the allison oem section . Your search button is in the top right area of the site tool bar.

IMHO the spin on should be changed every 5K miles. I'd say after 25K miles the trans should be drained and fluid replaced with a quality DexIII synthetic. If it were mine that's what I would do. I had mine done when I had the upgrade/rebuild at 20K miles.
