on my 01 2500hd with the 8.1 the pressure switch was bad and now that i got it fixed it runs alot better i was just wondering if the truck is smart enough to reduce the power so it dosent screw up the tranny if not why would it run better now?

The answer is yes, neither the transmission nor the engine will allow something to happen that could damage them. Of course, that's barring add-ons and driver stupidity.

There were a few service cal fixes in 2001, I'm wondering if your controllers may have been updated. That might explain why it feels better, or at least different.
