I noticed on the Allison web site that there is a "Principles of Operation" manual for the 1000 series transmission. Does anyone know if this manual explains the details of how the transmission operates or if it is just more like an operator's manual? For example, does the manual explain what the transmission actually does as gears are changed?

P.S. This looks like it will be an awesome site! Thanks!

How 'bout picking up a copy and letting us know?

I picked up a little $20 manual on the Allison from the

Automatic Transmission Service Group

that's not too bad. Has lots of nice cutaway pictures. You can even buy a large color cutaway for on your wall.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to tell us all what the actual gear ratios are on those planetary gears such that:

R=4.49, 1st=3.10, 2nd=1.81, 3rd=1.41, 4th=1.0, & 5th=0.71

Good luck Tundra
