I was told that you can use the Bidirectional controls on the Allison while logging engine data. My setup will not do this. Can this be done? If so how?

V1 or V2?

My V1 does it, but the V2/LBZ does not.

I haven't tried for a while to be certain that the latest software supports this, but I've done it before with the earlier versions.

I was trying it with the V2 and the latest and greatest SW release from EFI. I'll try it with V1 when I get home.

V1 and/or V2 with the 7.3.3 build 475 of the scan tool does not allow me to use the Allison bidirectional controls and scan tool at the same time. Anyone on the EFILive staff have an idea why it isn't working?

I have an e-mail in to EFILive support about this. This is their response:
"The Scan Tool is presently able to communicate with one controller at a time. So that is why you will see the Allison control panel disabled when in ECM mode. I assume that if your are in TCM mode the Allison Bi-Di controls are enabled and function?"

I had to give Paul's brain a rattle regarding this.
I asked him if he has disabled it for some reason, he said "I don't think you have ever been able to use bi-di controls on the Allison whilst logging engine data"..........so, after he wiped the blood from he's nose he agreed that it's always been in there.
I have not been able to duplicate the problem here, however, what we have since realized is we had a special exception in the scantool that only allowed TCM control once a Duramax ECM was detected. For some this process might be failing though I am not sure why.
We have since changed this 'auto detect' method and the Allison bi-direction control panel will always be allowed regardless if a Duramax is detected or not, this will be implemented in the next update. That will no doubt save any confusion.

Cheers,
Ross

Hmm, yes embarrassing really. I was sure that EFILive had never supported Allison bidi controls while logging the ECM.

I went to implement it and there it was, already done. There must be programming pixies in my computer adding stuff when I'm not looking.

So to everyone that told me you used to be able to do it and me not believing you - my humble apologies.

It will need re-testing once it is re-released :(.

Regards
Paul
