Ok so I have a 93 c2500 with the 4l60e with a transmission going out. I’ve been looking for a 4l60e out of another 6.2 but haven’t been able to find anything. But I found a 4l60e out of a 94 gas truck. I’m new to diesel’s so I’m here to ask if a 4l60e out of a 94 Chevy gas truck work in 93 Chevy 6.2l diesel?

Welcome to the forum. Can you tell us a little more about your symptoms and or any codes. What model engine you have and so on. My understanding is yes, a 4L60E out of a gas will bolt up to your 93 C2500 but you will need to use your Torque Converter because their is a difference between the gas and diesel Torque Converters. I’m not 100% on this but maybe someone who’s done it will chime in. These guys are pretty good at diagnosing symptoms and codes. I thought my 4L80E was going out and turned out to be a ground wire and sensor issue.

Just my take.. be careful buying a used transmission off FMP and getting your rebuilt. If you can’t drive the transmission, see line pressures, and pull the pan you are taking a gamble. If it is cheap enough and you can do the swap yourself maybe its worth the risk…. If you are paying for the install i would want a warentee. Being a 2wd the swap is not hard. If its a 4l80 or 4l60 it should not be hard to find a good rebuild but again you get what you pay for.

I have heard the Torque Converter stall is different between gas and diesel. Also on older transmissions the governor is different

i have not had great luck with trucks i bought with rebuilt transmissions. Both had paperwork and both shifted weird or had other problems one of the reasons i prefer manual transmissions. People like the 4l80e alot and they are still a desired transmission.

Yes a 4L60E out of a gasser will bolt right up to your Diesel. But like we mentioned before you will need to use your diesel torque converter and I believe your diesel’s trans wiring harness from the trans computer computer should hook up directly to the gasser 4L60E.
