I've got a Frito-Lay van (GMC P30 chassis, Grumman body) with a Cummins 4BT. Problem is too much space between gears with its Muncie SM465 4-speed (really a 3-speed with underdrive).

Any recommendations for a nice 6-speed for this puppy that will handle the torque of the Cummins? Thinking about a ZF S6-650.

Hmmm... but that's only a five-speed, and one of those is overdrive, right? Except for the overdrive, that's essentially what I have!

I already have a tall (3.21) rear end and don't need overdrive. So as far as I can see, the NV4500 is no better than what I have.

I think the NV 5600 is a five plus overdrive, similar to the ZF S6-650. Either of these would give me one more "normal" gear and an overdrive I can't really use without re-gearing the rear end. Can anyone recommend one of these over the other?

The reason I'm favoring the S6 is that I've seen rebuilds for under $2,000, but I haven't seen a NV5600 for under $3k. Perhaps there's a reason for the difference...
