I've been looking at a few mid-90s 6.5L diesels (SUVs), but I'm troubled by the fact that most of the ads advertise a new engine at 100k miles. Of course, the ads spin it as a positive ("Look, a relatively new engine!"), but 100k miles doesn't seem that long for a diesel. Is this a common life span for these engines (and thus I can expect only 100k out of the replacement engine), or am I missing something here?
I'd like to hear how many miles you all have on your engines, and if you've replaced one, how many miles it had before being replaced.
Thanks!
