I have a real late 6.2 that lost a rod.
I have a 6.5 crank sitting here.
Both engines use the one piece rear main.
I have received conflicting info that the 6.5 crank will interchange.
Some say yes some say no.
Does anyone here have personal experience with this.

My Block is a 599 block with a D144 date code. It is definately a 6.2 (Bore size)

Pleae share some info ;0)

The late 6.2 diesel crank with the one-piece rear-main-seal is the same casting # and same GM part # as the 6.5 diesel with turbo or not. Also, the rod and main diam. specs. are the same. So, seems they must be the same. Here are a few specs.

Crankshafts
1982-1991 6.2 diesel two-piece seal casting #s 14024236 or 23500245. Main journals 1982-1993 - 2.949"-2.965", 1994 2.951"-2.952" Rod journals - 1982-1993 - 2.398"-2.399", 1994 - 2.399" - 2.40"

1992 - 1993 6.2 diesel casting # 23502592 one-piece seal

1993 6.5 turbo 1996-2000 - 1 PIECE REAR MAIN SEAL, CAST #23502592 rods - 2.399" and mains 2.95"

Yep - and the 6.5 pistons were cast to the same weight as the 6.2 versions so no need for rebalance when swapping.

I had heard many rumors about this and all indications I had here looked good.

I had also read that the 6.5 had a different stroke but was really sure that was bogus.

Some where I had read some article that the 6.2 was 3.80 stroke and the 6.5 was 3.82. Well that made no sense but its sure better to ask.

I have built several engine of each size but never done any parts swapping othere than external accessories.
