My son bought an 85 Chevy pickup with a 6.2 diesel. It sat for three years and we replaced all fluids and filters before starting. It ran for several weeks and as he was driving home it just stopped running. He tried starting it and the wiring harness near the windshield wiper motor started smoking. We replaced an in line fuse and ignition switch. It cranks but will not fire. I think it might be the power wire for the solenoid on the injection pump is bad. Any suggestions would help. Thanks.

Pink wire to IP needs 12 volts to run. You should hear a click when disconnected with key on. Check for voltage with key on.
