excuse my ignorance on this subject but am trying to figure something out. when dynoing what is the difference between commanding the tranny into 4th vs. have a 5th gear lockout. on my 02 i can lockout 5th and just run in 4th for the dyno. is this the same? thanks

you want to lock it in fourth because you dont want it downshifting into 3rd or shifting at all for that matter. To get the most accurate reading you want to put a load on it locked in one gear because the shift will change the readings. Im no expert but im sure someone else will explain a little better than I.
