I am running a quadzilla box and I run it on the 215 Level and it raises the rev limiter and yesterday I was rappin it out pretty good and let it go to about 4500 in first second and third and I know it can't be good for my engine but wondering how bad I'm hurting it by doing this. Let me know what yall think.

I know that range is ok when using the engine brake while towing. But remember its a diesel not a gas engine. :bigglasse

red line in the tts box=4500. the only time it sees that high is in a very loose track, or a very very bad shift, and even an input shaft breaking too

high rev's mean heat. lots of it. Diesels dont like heat, hope youve got a good exaust.

More RPM's = more friction. Friction = heat. Therefore RPM's = Heat. Just a little algebra for ya.

4500 probably wont hurt the motor, the turbo is another story. i blew mine doing a burnout....i dont think my truck will rev to 4500 unless its spinning. going through the gears it will shift at 3700 or so

Yeah, it will probably smoke a stock charger. You won't make power up there without nitrous.

the friction creating heat is probably nothing compared to the combustion going on. my bet thats where the heat is coming from. god help the gassers that run 8k+!

Cant even count how many times I have been to 4500 and past. Still running strong.

cyl. wall to piston friction makes up the majority of friction in an engine (roughly 65% I believe)...and it goes up exponentially with rpms, that's why high rpm motors usually only run 2 rings. that combined with the heat from diesels combustion properties = lots of heat....all that said, it's only 4500rpm, I wouldn't worry about the rotating assembly
