Howdy, looking at replacing the olds diesel in our 3/4 ton pick up. It started life with petrol engine but thought the diesel would be more economical but it seems underpowered as well as being unreliable so wondered if a 84 6.2 would be better. Thanks

Going to have a little more power and be a little more reliable. Should be a fairly straight forward swap over from the olds, so I would definitely do it and see how you like it.

The olds 5.7 is an engine I used to run for many years.Never really had any issues with those but are underpowered because they have a short stroke and parts now are hard to find for them especially the pencil injectors.

You have a better chance of finding hens teeth on the side of the highway than finding pencil injectors. The 6.2 is the better engine of the two.Much more robust and reliable.
