I have read for hours and days and been told personally while ordering parts for my LLY it is the same as LBZ except for programming. And what is the "cut in date". I have read GM's spec sheet and it appears that there are more diffs. Every vendor I have talked to says "programming only". Is there some one who can say they have actually verified the 06 LLY has the same internals as the LBZ? I saw under the hood of LBZ and seen diffs in plumbing. I hate to ask again and if someone could link me to the thread that gives "exacts"
other than GM site (preferably some one who has seen inside both) I would greately appreciately.

There is a "sticky" at the top of this forum which explains all of the differences.

As I said I have read it twenty times and it looks like there are internal differences, but it is kinda vague. Every vendor tells me they are the same. All I am asking for is confirmation, Do I have LBZ pistons or not!

Eric Merchant (vendor here) has had both apart and side by side. Exact same parts between the two (and different from 05-back LLY). I'll see if I can find the thread.
Thank you so much.

I may have found a lead on an 06 LLY to get from a local dealer. Is it possible for them to upgrade the ECU with the LBZ program? It would suck to buy a new truck and not have a warranty because I went aftermarket to get it reprogrammed.

I don't think this is possible. I think there are a few threads on this already. IIRC it has been tried and was unsuccessful.

A rogue mechanic with a Tech 2 and access to the GM SPS could probably do it. It's easier said than done, but possible.

Anybody with EFI Live could do it and more...
