I have a 2006 Kodiak C5500 based motorhome. It came with the 7 way trailer plug option (U86).

Where does the other end of this wiring loom end up? I need to add a brake controller and need to find the dark blue wire that is supposed to be the feed to the trailer brakes.

Has anyone added a brake controller to their 2006 C5500 with the factory installed wiring loom?

Thanks

On the couple I have done, the dark blue wire was hidden nicely in the loom right about in between the engine and the right front tire, on top of the frame. It runs through a large connector with a bunch of wires and then deadends about a foot in front of that.

I did some research on this and it's a little tricky. The 4500 and 5500's don't seem to come prewired like the 2500/3500's where all you have to do is plug into the harness under the dash and splice it into the brake controller. I ended up having a local shop that's familiar with the Kodiaks wire in my brake controller. Cost me $295 for the controller and install.....figured that was better than me screwing it up and burning out the brake switch.

Thanks Trailerpro.

It was just where you said it would be. I would never have found it if not for your help.

Now one more small question. On the brake switch there are 5 or 6 wires. Do you know which one should be connected to the controllers brake input wire?

I guess I can check each one but if you remember it will save me some time.

Thanks again for the location of the blue wire.
