Hello guys, I have a friend who has a 2005 he is turning in on his lease early. He has offered to give me his cp3 pump and other things such as the mirrors and the grille and hood. My question is will the lights swap over as well? I would like to have his headlights as I like them better than the 2002 lights. What do you think, can this be done without it becoming a "hack" job? Thanks for the input.

So let me get this straight. Your buddy with an '05 is going to switch all these parts out with your '02 and you both think the dealership will take the lease return like that??? Not to mention the poor bastard who is going to buy his piece of junk with mismatched parts. Sounds pretty unethical to me. Not to mention I think the dealership he returns his truck to is going to tell him to take a hike and pay up big bucks!

the lights are different on the 03's and up from the 02's

Edit:

also The dealer ship will look at the truck before they take it back. There not stupid:rolleyes: .

You would be correct but unfortunatly my friend bit off alittle more than he chew on his payments. This is a ****ty situation for him from the get go, i mean having something repoed is horrible and this is nothing but his fault. He offered it up, so I will go with it. Pretty sure when the time comes when he has to drop it off, the banker isnt going to notice it, not to mention it pry wont see a dealer straight to the auction it goes. As for the guy who buys it down the line, hes gonna have a one of a kind! Thanks for the moral lesson.

unless you are changeing the whole front clip I dont see how a 05 hood and grille will work on an 02. If you are changeing the whole front clip than the headlights will need to be changed anyways. Does your buddy realize the bank will come after him for there money after it sells at auction. They dont just say forget it they usually collect and then hes paying on something he does not even own anymore and will be worth less at auction when it is cobbled back together with 02 parts.

At a minimum you'd need to do the whole grille, drl's and headlights. Not sure if it's a direct bolt, but if you had a weekend it'd be pretty easy.

Whats a "DRL"? I have a weekend to do this all i really wanted was the grille and hood and possibly the lights. Like the guy stated above i dont wanna cobble this together. And just so the guy above knows, my truck isnt wrecked so if it ends up being a direct swap over there will be nothing "cobbled" or "jerry rigged" about it. As far as the bank asking for more money because the truck has a 02 grille and not a 05, show me a banker who doesnt belong to this site that says in the middle of a repo "hey this is a 02 grille, not a 05" lol just isnt gonna happen. i never said this was the right thing to do, but it looks good and hes willing so why not. thanks for the info

The hole front clip - everything in front of the doors, including bumper et al - will have to be swapped over. Even then, I don't know that it will, I just know that all (fenders, hood, entire grill assembly, lights, bumper, etc.) of that is different.

I'm with the others though, not a good move for more reasons than just fitment issues IMO.

02s look better anyhow if you want brighter lights get xnaracs or some crystal clear ones
