About a month ago my truck started and then stalled out as I backed up. It had 3/4 tank so fuel wasnt the problem. I drain fuel from the bottom of the pump for possible water. Primed it and turned ignition to accessory 5 times for 30 seconds. Still no start. Got it towed to the mechanic about an hour away on friday afternoon. By the time they got to it on monday morning they tried it and it started right up. Yesterday it happened again. Started it drove 1000 feet and it stalled. Any ideas?

Update. Just went out and it started right up. What the hell? Can diesels vapor lock?

Welcome to DieselPlace
When the primer is pumped let it sit for 30+ minutes then check the primer again. If it is soft you have a leak/air intrusion and I would recommend rebuilding or replacing the fuel filter head first then check your fuel lines to/from the filter head
