I am putting a 93 6.5 in my 70 K10. I recently picked up a 94 6.5 for parts, and I'm wondering what the differences are between the 2. I know the 94 has a computer controlled IP, but is that the only difference? I don't plan on using the IP or the ECU.

Basically, THe 93 uses mechanical injection. The 94-95 to my knowledge are fairly the same but are the start of the Electronic fuel injection. But the 94-95's were the last of the OBD1's and in 96 OBD2 was in.

SO imo "IF" you could use the electronic pumps it "might" be better, but im sure others will chime in

If it was me for what your putting it in i would use the manual injection pump since its simpler to use. Although its been said you can sometimes get more power from a electronic version.

Long block and exhaust manifolds are the same. Intake, timing cover, timing chain crank sprocket and harmonic balancer are different besides the injection pump and high pressure lines.

I love my mechanical pump, it's nice reading all the peoples problems on this site and most don't deal with my motor.

Just use the whole engine, minus the injection lines, its all hidden so it won't make any difference using it on a mechanical IP. Just keep the crank sensor as you'll need that to plug the hole in the timing cover and you MUST reuse the 94 harmonic balancer, if you use a 93 unit, it will stick out too far. If not going turbo, then you can use the turbo intake as well, the lower half, as the air cleaner studs match the pattern, you just have to make a flat plate to cover the whole plenum area.

My 93 is complete and running, I was just wondering if there were any parts of the 94 that were worth swapping over.
Nope, except maybe the injectors if they are newer.

If it (93) is not broken, don't fix it!!! IMO.

Is it manual tranny, or an automatic? If an automatic you will have to consider the sensors needed for the TCM you are using. If using the 4L80E, there are differences from 94 and 93 in the electric pressure control solenoid (force motor). So you need the right TCM chip for the year or the right tranny for the year of the TCM.

I have the same 93 6.5 with mechanical injectors, I saw some snippet that suggested maybe you could swap the fuel injection systems from the 94 6.5, into the 93 6.5, and then have the ability to tune your injection, got any idea if that might work?
