i went thru the PCB (printed curcuit board) with my eyes and a ohm meter and labeled all the "pinouts" for the PCB. WARNING: this is a 1985 K10 diesel with a clock (well it did have a clock till i put a tach there)

i did find that becuase there was a clock that a couple of the curcuits lead to nothing in the clock area. I labeled what gauges were where. Were you see the word "back" means backlighting for the cluster.

noticed the backlight between the fuel and speedo i forgot to label the top of the bulb, it should be a "K" like the other backlights

The missing fuel gauge peg is "C"

Ah very nice, that'll help someone out.

That should go in the FAQ's, mod's.

i have a question. could somebody test and see if pin C & I are powers or grounds? i would think that they would be ground, but not sure. i would check, but my truck is in pieces and has no wiring hooked up on the outside of the cab. if someone could check that it would add to this threads info i think.

I = Ground
C = +12V

The pins are actually numbered on the truck side plug 1-18 (Had to trace all this out since my new cluster was pinned different):

A -18 - Fuel Gauge ------------------------- J - 1 - High Beam
B- 17 - Brake Light ------------------------- K - 2 - Illumination
C - 16 - +12V -------------------------------- L - 3 - Volt Gauge
D - 15 - Low Coolant (Empty) ------------ M - 4 - Volt Gauge
E - 14 - 4WD (Empty) ---------------------- N - 5 - Oil Pres Gauge
F - 13 Seat Belt ----------------------------- O - 6 - +12V
G - 12 Right Turn ---------------------------- P - 7 - Empty
H - 11 - Left Turn ---------------------------- Q - 8 - Empty
I - 10 - Ground ------------------------------ R - 9 - Temp Gauge

Not bad, but you should have saved it as a .png and not a .jpg so the text didn't get washed out like it did. Also, its a bit small - hard to read on a big monitor like mine.

I believe you have your right and left turn signals backwards, since we're looking at the cluster from behind in this pic.

good catch on the turn signals. the text was small to begin with (size 11) so that way i could label stuff without over lap and show each area alittle better.

extra info

when I installed the cluster back in the truck, I found out that the low coolant light and 4x4 light are a completely separate harness, so if you would do like I did, you wont need to wire them up to plug into the cluster harness.

btw this is what it looks like with all wires...

above the fuel gauge there are 2 bolts. I put those in there for the aftermarket gauges. one bolt is positive and one is ground.

Very good work, your cluster is now PCB break down proof. Hard wiring is the way to go. Are you going to give the surface a spray of sealer (HSS2000) to eliminate corrosion problems ?

never thought of a sealer. I didn't, but being a interior part and this truck being a summer driver only I don't think im going to have corrosion issues.
