2009 LMM interior door handle

On my son's 2009 LMM, the driver's door handle quit working. I pulled the door panel off, took apart the handle apparatus, sprayed some wd40 on the exterior latch and worked the cable and it seemed to start working. Put it all back together and the interior handle still isnt working, almost like it's not pulling the cable far enough. Is there something I need to be looking for, or something common that breaks on these?

Lemme rephrase my question: is it normally the handle on these trucks that's the issue? Or is the cable the more common failure point?
