A problem with DIC locked up displaying English,Spanish,French

Just started having problem with my DIC where it stays stuck with the language choices English,Spanish and French flashing over and over in a loop.

While this happens, the DIC is unresponsive to all other steering wheel control inputs

I tried disconnecting the batteries with no success...it stayed in that loop for a week and several restarts and stops.

Then it magically reset while driving with no input from me to the odometer reading in English and it worked fine...

Until I tested the trip button functions where it cycled through trip 1,2 etc until it reached the last entry when it locked into the same English, French , Spanish loop

My truck has the SLT package with steering wheel DIC controls.

This exact problem has been asked here before with no solution posted..
https://www.dieselplace.com/forum/sho...french+spanish

Can anyone help?

Is there a way to contact Wade1533 with a private message on the site to ask him directly about the problem and how it was fixed?

Maybe you need the body control module reflashed?

The odometer reset button (the stem through the lense) is stuck in the depressed position.

My truck resets the trip odometer with buttons on the steering wheel.

Please keep the suggestions coming....

I don't know what getting the DIC re-flashed entails..trip to dealer?

or a Repair shop with what exactly what equipment?

Yeah, but it still has a push button thru the cluster lenses. Same as if you didn't have steering wheel controls.

After this post I looked and saw it..I never even noticed it before..

I don't think it was stuck..I never used it before and It seemed to function smoothly as if new.

I still can't believe I never even noticed that! Thanks for that info.

Has there been an issue on these trucks with the wiring from the steering wheel controls like what sometimes happens with the tap shifter?

Last night, While driving, and locked in English,French ,Spanish, I moved the steering wheel adjuster through it's vertical range.

That switched all my displays on the truck to Spanish..radio face included.

A short time later the DIC automatically gave me the baseline odometer reading in English (didn't touch a thing) ..and the steering wheel controls worked normally.

Did you ever find out your problem? We're having this problem in my wifes Suburban with the same features - wondering if a BCU reflash or something will fix the issues...

Never fixed yet....After the last time the regular functions (in English) reappeared after moving the steering column, I have avoided cycling through the functions on the trip button and avoided the problem.

The DIC works normally without cycling completely through ALL THE FUNCTIONS on that trip button. The other button works fine with ave mpg ,gal used, etc, and can be reset.

I can zero trip 1 and trip 2 and I then push the other button to get back to ave mpg , gal used etc....

I've been Avoiding the problem waiting for a solution.....

You need to clean the contacts in the steering wheel buttons, if it's not a stuck reset stem.

You sure? That trip button works fine until it reaches the last function of the trip menu..that puts it into English, Espanol, and Francais mode.

Never happens until you cycle through the entire trip menu, then it goes into crazy mode instead of cycling to the first item.

Same way every time..no problem until the end of the menu is reached.

Wouldn't dirty contacts effect every action of that button?

I'm clueless here..but I would think that dirty buttons would give an error from any position rather than from a SPECIFIC place in the menu.
