Can you install aftermarket remote start if you already have factory remote start?

I'm tired of the short range of my factory remote start, as well as the limits on how long the remotely-started engine can run. I'd really like a system that lets me start the truck from deep inside my workplace, rather than requiring me to press my face against a window and press the key fob against my temple to eek out a few extra feet of range.

I have a 2008 GMC 2500HD LMM.

QUESTION: Can I install an aftermarket remote start, even though I already have factory remote start? If so, any recommendations?

If you happen to have an aftermarket alarm, it may not be that much to add a module that will utilize the aftermarket's alarm range and still use the factory remote.

That is one feature I like about OnStar - I can remote start the truck from anywhere my phone has a signal.

I bought a long range remote to work with my Tahoe. Bought it from the dealer as it is a GM product.

Go with aftermarket stand alone. I had a factory installed remote start and I bought the factory upgrade, it was not much better! Now I have paid twice what I needed to to be happy. I went with viper and I'm supper happy.
