Alternators

What is the stock amperage for the LML alternator? Other than snowplows and such, do most think dual alternators are more than needed? Any other benefit that I'm not thinking of?

stock is 125, there is an option of dual 125s, and I believe you can also option a single 160.

What are your requirements? Why do you think you need more than a single 125?

I was thinking stock was 125 on the gasser, but 160 on the Duramax, with dual alternators an option on the D-max and the 160 an option on the gasser. Remember, the D-Max alt is charging 2 batteries. I'd be surprised if stock was the same as the gasser...

I have the dual alternators, do i NEED them? probably not, but find them useful when recharging 2 flat RV batteries when i hook up to my trailer and haul it back home from dry camping, running all the accesories in my truck with one ALT, would be sufficiant but with 2 it is much easier on the elecrical system when running ipods, charging phones ,running rear entertainment system ect. If one alt. fails i aleays have a backup. Again not necassary but nice option to have.

I'm 99.9% sure the stock single is bigger than one of the doubles. I always remembered it for some reason....I knew it wasn't twice the amperage.

The Canadian brochure says 125 amp is standard. Snow plow prep package includes dual 125's for the dmax or a 160 amp for 6.0 litre.

They must have changed it for the LML's.......I'm pretty sure the LMM's are the way I said. I may have been wrong once or twice before though.....
