Need new shocks, advice

2002 GMC 2500HD 6.6 Diesel
250,000 km with original shocks
Iím thinking they should be changed?
What should I use, are Bilstein original shocks on these trucks.
If I go with Bilstein should I use the 5100
And if I wanted to level and raise 1-2Ē are the 5100ís ok to use.

I like how the Rancho RS9000 shocks work on my '04 Sierra 3500 cab&chassis, which is at stock height.

As for which model of shock to get, it depends on how the lift is done, so the shock stays in it's working range.

I would suggest first figuring out the lift, then getting shocks that work with that lift.

I read a lot of good reviews on the 5100’s and they say you can lift truck 1”-2” with them using torsion bars.

bilsteins. I tossed the factory shocks on my 2004.5 at about 10K miles and replaced with Bilsteins. That truck now has turned 200K and shocks are still better than the new factory shocks.

On my 2015.5, Bilsteins before the truck had 1K miles on it. IMHO the factory shocks suck for any towing, and are marginal at best unloaded.
