Steering clunking after shaft replacement

My 2006 2500 was plagued by the famous steering clunking. When it came back this time i decided to replace the shaft with a newer version. Well that didn't change anything, if anything it may be worse. In a straight line it's fine, start turning slightly to the left at any speed and it's there. I can't feel it so much in the wheel but hear it down on the left side of the steering column.
