If there is more than 1/2" between the bump stops and the metal stop they ride against then probably so. Yes jack up by the frame to get some clearance between the bump stop and remove the nut. You can also measure from the ground to the center of your wheel openings if the measurements are within 1" you are definitely cranked.

I took another look at them last night. The "hump" in LCA (???) in the pics I posted falls away so to speak, such that the bump stops sits behind it. I put my pinky under the bump stop and if it wasn't disintegrated I believe there would be a slight amount of space between them and the LCA (???).

I keep these bumpers in stock if I can help. These bumpers wear over time. On all trucks. I have replaced numerous ones of these. Just install new ones and see where the gap/clearance is at and we can adjust accordingly if needed. Should be fine as is I would assume.

Thanks, Texas. I definitely don't think there is more than 1/2" between the bump stop and the metal stop right now, but it is a bit difficult to tell for sure since they have pretty well trashed/disintegrated. I'll have to remeasure after I install the new ones.

Not sure I quite follow you on your last sentence. Within 1" of what?

Thanks, mreeves. Sounds like a gameplan. I suspect my torsion bars have not been cranked (given the stock nature of the truck went I bought it) but I guess we'll find out. It did come with 265 tires on it so perhaps there is a chance the previous owner cranked it but I doubt it. Not sure cranking is really needed for 265's vs 245 eom's.

Great job of inspecting your truck while you were under there! When I was serving my apprenticeship they told me time after time that 95% of a service was the inspection you do during the service. Those quickie lube places generally only look at stuff they're trained to try to sell and could care less about jounce brackets, leaking shocks, etc.

My old school front end mechanic told me the same thing, the bumper/jounce/thingamabob is secondary, let the torsion bar and shock do their job before coming in contact with these. About a 1/4 clearance is where he set mine at. Got into a big heated debate not to long ago on this subject.

OEM are just fine although energy suspension does have some polyurethane replacements, be sure to have your front aligned when raising it to the correct ride height

Here are some pics of the new Z71 jounce / bump stops installed.

You can see these definitely, but barely, touch the LCA's. There is most definitely not a 1/4" gap.

As such I would assume my torsion bars have been cranked -- would you agree? Could there by any other explanation? Old/bad shocks?

Perhaps a visit to an alignment shop is in my near future to get the front set back to spec (or adjusted to fit 265's).
