Frankly I don't understand this whole issue. As stated above there is only a 20 cent difference in price. If you drove the normal average of 12k miles a year and got an average of 15 MPG your annual savings are only going to be $160. Even at 40k a year you are only going to save 500 bucks. And to screw around for a single weekend, really. It just is worth the effort IMO.

This is covered in the FAQ. Basically, no, unless you are willing to completely unlicense the truck for the duration of your time there.

Will you get caught doing it as suggested? Your risk.

Unless you can remove the second tank and completely remove all traces of it having been plumbed to the engine, the second your truck has the technical ability to consume the dyed fuel you are contrary to the law in most jurisdictions.

Again, as seems to be the case in Saskatchewan, there is apt to be isolated areas and jurisdictions with exemptions, but typically, "Playing around off road and 4X4'ing" isn't going to be amongst them no matter what.

OK regarding all this. Ill keep running what i run in my truck. Granted my fuel is cheaper than others, but around here they dont dip. Im not saying they never have never will, but its VERY rare to even hear about it. So guess ill be the one to say im going to continue what i do even if it is "tax evasion" and go on about my wonderful day, the day if/when i do get busted, yea it will result in a fine and i may or may not learn my lesson. But regardless i know in the past 6 months i have saved more in fuel than the ticket will be, so even with a fine i would still break under even :P

My .02 about this topic though. Alot like politics though. Just a opinion, kinda like a butthole, we all have them and everyone elses stinks but yours.

and the MTO, MOR, OPP, YRPS, DRPS, TPS, RCMP, MOE and anything other acronym thats considered an officer of the peace or of ministry/department enforcement, can pull you over and spot check your vehicle for the following things, whether you say yes or no,:

Safety
Emissions Related Equipment
Taxed Fuel

I own a livestock auction barn in oklahoma and have seen them dipping random trucks in the parking lot ever now and again. seems like they target people that would have more access to red diesel (farming communities, livestock related, construction sites, etc)

Great write up.

I have seen them doing random checks around here before. Livestock barn was one of the places also at a local resturant I've seen it happen.

well, unlike you pete, im so busy on a sunday afternoon watching reruns of woodywoodpecker on TV, i dont have time to do simple math. and yea, remind me about the saftey, emissions and non approved aftermarket mods with the cops... i remember the look on that officers face when he got me to open the hood of my old 73 GMC and saw a leaf blower hooked to the top of the carb lol that was quite the interesting ticket to say the least..
