Fabtech 4” lift upper ball joints

I have a 2014 GMC 2500 HD CC SB duramax. The dealership installed a Fabtech 4” lift and 305 55r/20 tires from new. I have owned the truck for 4 years 35,000 kms(22,000 miles) I noticed that the right front tire had excessive wear on the inside of the tire and seemed to lean in. I took it for an alignment and was told that my upper ball joint had failed. I was very surprised as the truck is a pavement queen. No Offroad, no gravel, no mud.

I contacted Fabtech and was told that the warranty is 60 days and the upper ball joint was due for replacement as it is a wear item. I was shocked. Costco has a 90 return policy. I asked how the manufacturers are able to offer a minimum 3 yr, 60,000 warranty. I was told “you are running bigger tires”. I responded with “that’s why I bought the kit, why you built the kit, and what it should be designed for. “. Fabtech was adamant that there kits are designed right, and require ball joints to be replaced every 22,000 miles. I am very disappointed in Fabtech. The dealership will no longer install their kits. Why install a lift on a $90,000 truck that has a 60 day warranty. They will stick with BDS.

I asked Fabtech for a upper ball joint number and was given FTS 20538. I asked for a Napa or Moog number as I needed the ball joint now as the truck was deemed unsafe to drive. I was told it is a Fabtech only part. After some reasearch it have found the Napa and Moog #’s. Napa 260-1313 and Moog K6292. Lifetime warranty on their ball joints.

Had the exact same lift and issue (ball joints gone after 5000 miles) on my truck, installed the Moog ball joint and haven't had any issues since (about 20,000 miles on current ball joints). I will definitely go with a BDS or Cognito lift next time.
