I just had my free service done at the dealer last week, so yesterday I crawled under it to look at grease fittings and they are covered in road grime! They never greased it. Truck has 9500 miles on it and it probably has never been greased.

I know this is an old thread but I hope someone can help me, for the life of me I can only find 8 grease fittings on my 17 3500.
4 ball joints 2 tie rod ends 1 pitman arm and 1 idler arm joint????

At the top of the idler arm assembly (the one on the passenger side). It is a real bitch to get to.

If you are a wuss, you can get an extension hose with a gear nipple on the end to make it easier to gear that upper part of the idler arm. :-)

I put a 90 degree fitting on the end of my hose..works great! :D

Thanks! I have a gun with a 20 solid pipe. I put a 90* fitting on the end and it was a snap! Thanks Silver Bullet!

Time to get the truck to a reputable mechanic.

Looks like a good grease but I've been using Mobil ! synthetic grease for years. The main thing is to grease them on a regular basis.

Threads like this are the reason I joined this site. I dove under my 2018 last night and the zeros on all 9 spots seemed untouched. The older and pitman zerks were harder to tell because I have a skid plate on and will need to pull it, but the ball joints and tie rods are for sure thirsty. Time to go buy a gun and grease. Really pretty shocked they don’t hit these during a regular service and from the factory.
