one thing some folks have found (and GM/Ford/Chrylser as well) and myself is that not all 7 pin plugs are created equal. Some are pure crap, some are very good. When you have a crap one, contact springs are weak, and you get intermittent or high resistance.

Now, the way the OEM brake controllers work is they look for a certain impedance to see if a trailer is plugged in. If they detect it then see a big enough change it triggers the alarm, not knowing if the problem is the controller or trailer.

I had trouble with my outback trailer, put on a new plug of the recomended brand and all has been ok. My other trailer already had that brand plug. Trailer is not handy so don't know the brand, but since your hauling trailers, not much you can do.

The other issue can be water or contamination in the truck socket. If your going from Indiana to other states, any chance you've been through areas using salt on the roads and you might have gotten salty water in the truck socket? If so that can cause the same problem. give it a squirt from a good clean water source and dry it out.

I went back to your original post and looked at your receipt for work to your truck. On the receipt, it shows that there are several codes written by hand on the receipt, C1113, C1118, etc. Was that information written by the tech when he worked on your truck or did that come from somewhere else? And if so, did he say that he looked at those codes and did all the tests to determine what the problems were?

Keep this in mind. If your DIC message says 'SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM' that means that the problem is within the truck. If your DIC message says 'CHECK TRAILER WIRING' the problem is in the trailer, most likely a grounding problem.

As you know most all of the trailer frames are built by one company and they do marginal work. Not having a good trailer ground is VERY COMMON with this manufacturer.

Take an ohm meter with you, and measure between the blue and white wires on the trailer. If it's not ONE ohm, it's the trailer wiring. That's the only way to rule out the trailer(s). Blue and white are a 5 & 7 o'clock, with polarity of your test not mattering.

If you can't do that, you'll just keep running in circles over this.
