Eaton e-locker for front of 2011+ trucks?

I've been looking for a selectable front locker for my 2011 LML. I had a thread started before the forum separated the drivetrain forums asking about one. I am interested in the Eaton e-locker for the front.

Today I looked at the October 2014 application guide from Eaton and it now lists an available front locker for trucks 1982-2012. The old application guide stopped at year 2010.

My concern is the part number is the same as before when it only went up to 2010.

The application guide can be found here:
Eaton ELocker

And before anyone flames me..the locker would only be used for instances where I'm already stuck, or times where I need to travel in a straight line to get out of a camp site, such as being in deep sand or snow with the toy hauler attached.

Does anyone have any input?
Thank you!

I have not used them, I like ARB's, but for what your looking for it will be great.

I think that catalog is a misprint because Part #19622-010 which lists up to 2012 is not correct. Part #19622-010 is good up to 2010 as you probably already know. I heard awhile back that Eaton was working on an E-Locker for the 2011 and up IFS trucks but I haven't heard anything since.
I've had E-lockers in two of my IFS trucks and one in a buddies SFA truck(Ram), if I could find one for my current rig I would have bought it yesterday. They are a great product and I'd take one over an ARB any day of the week.
Maybe someone should call Eaton and see if there are any updates(Hint ).

Hmmm . . .

Have you considered an Auburn ECTED? They function as limited slips in normal setting but have a switch to lock them up completely, best of both worlds imho.

I think I will give them a call. The last time I called, the gentlemen I talked to just opened up the application guide like I did online and said "nope" and that was about the extent of our conversation. When I call this time, I will probe for more information.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have never even heard of Auburn before you mentioning it right now.

Looking at their site they do have this, but I think it is for the 14 bolt REAR, not the front.

Yeah, keep us posted. Eaton E-Locker Part #19622-010 which was made for the GM 9.25"IFS also fit the Dodge(Ram)9.25" front end as well so it was kind of worthwhile for Eaton to manufacture them for the market. Since the 9.25"IFS design was changed in 2011 and if it is in fact different from the previous years then Eaton is looking at revising a product which will essentially fit only one application(2011 + GM IFS 9.25"). If they don't figure enough of these lockers will be sold and make it profitable for them then I doubt you'll ever see them make one at all. This is just my opinion but I've been around the Automotive Industry long enough to know that if they think a product won't sell well and make a profit for it's manufacturer, it either isn't made, or if it is, it doesn't hang around long.
The Auburn Part # you found is the same one I did and it's made for the GM 9.5" rear SF axle.

I talked to Eaton on Friday. They tell me the application guide is a misprint and there is no front e-locker for 2011+ trucks. I told them I know at least 100 people in my small circle that would buy one if it became available. So, same story as last time, nothing out there for 2011+ trucks.

Not surpised by their answer.. Considering how many of these trucks are out there now I guess there hasn't been a big enough demand for Eaton to entertain the idea or do the R&D on a 2011+ 9.25" IFS locker. Thanks for keeping us posted.

I've looked at some of the parts break downs, I doubt it would be that hard to make the 01-10 9.25 e-lockers work. But I need someone to volunteer a front diff out of a 2011 plus to be a guinea pig.

Well let me add some info. I too was looking into an Eaton front diff. But their diff called TrueTrac. It is basically the same as a limited slip diff. I presently have one in the front of my HD Ram diesel. It is plain fantastic, especially in snow and mud. The application guide does the same thing with the TrueTrac diff as the eloc one. NO INFO PAST 2012. I too had talked with one of the tech reps. He said he did not know if the 2012 Eaton diff would work in the 2014-15 GM diff. He basically said you can try and let us (Eaton) know if it does.

Now here comes the added news. My good friend's brother works for Eaton. He is pretty high up and because of the response I got from the Eaton tech rep I sent an email to him through the brother (my friend). It was sent a couple of weeks ago. I had outlined basically what everyone here has said. I am waiting his response. Below is a copy of the email between me and my friend. The email exchange between me and my friend had been over an article his brother wrote in one of the car mags:

John....thanks for forwarding the article. Ironically the subject of this article - an electronic limited slip differential (elsd) - is the very thing I wanted to talk to your brother about. I am contemplating getting a new GMC pickup truck with 4 wheel drive, my current truck is over 10yrs old. While I can order from the factory a limited slip differential for the rear axle, there is no such option for the front axle from the factory. So the front differential from the factory is "open" which results in only one wheel spinning when you get stuck in snow or mud. If it had a limited slip in front, then BOTH wheels spin which of course makes getting stuck less of a possibility. Eaton makes a limited slip for the front axle of the GMC and is available as electronic controlled, just like in the article. BUT the Eaton catalog only shows applications up to 2012, no info if their elsd would fit the newer/later models. I even called Eaton tech department and they could not answer if it would work in the 2014-2015 model GMC. The probable reason why the application catalog ends for GM heavy duty trucks in the 2012-2013 time frame is because the 2014-2015 GM heavy duty trucks are a new "generation" from the previous one which ended about 2013. So has someone attempted to try to put one in the newer (2014-2015) model?

If I can ask a favor, please forward my email to your brother, I hope I am not bothering him. I bet he would know. Here is info that he would want:

2015 GMC 3500 4X4 with the Duramax Diesel and Allison 6 speed auto. Gear ratio is 3.73. And looking to find out if their is an Eaton elocker for the front. Like I mentioned the catalog only goes to about 2012 for GM heavy duty. In the alternative, if there is a TrueTrac for the front that would fit a 2014-2015. The same problem with the catalog not showing truetrac applications for 2014-2015.

My old pickup (dodge 2500) in fact has a truetrac in front which I put in. This works great in the snow and now I want to have a limited slip in front on a new truck. Have not ordered it yet, but seriously thinking about it and the answer to this question would have an influence on what I decide.

Thanks................mike
