Steering pulling both way?

2005 gmc 4500 4x4. When driving the truck will pull both ways. It comes and goes.It has nothing to do with air pressure, brakes, worn front end parts. The power steering seems to have lost the ability to translate steering wheel movement properly. If I'm taking a turn and have slight pressure on the wheel it doesn't show up.When tracking straight it seems like it is trying to turn the wheels right or left.It doesn't track straight ,always pulling . Theres no noise,no change in the the pressure needed to turn wheel. It will come and go ,sometimes it lasts 5 minutes then it goes away. No leaks. Not sure what type of steering these trucks have or what controls the steering ,valves ,computer ?
Thanx

Have you weighed your truck. Setting pressure according to vehicle weight/load will affect how well it tracks straight.

Have you checked your steering column and connecting linkage for excessive wear/play.

There's no play in any front end parts, the air pressure has nothing to do with this issue.Only 70k on truck. The power steering is turning the truck without input from the steering wheel. It feels like a truck with a massive play in the wheel that follows ruts in road. But it starts and stops instantly.I'll have to research more about what type of steering these trucks have.Might be a bad steering box/rack? Not leaking ,have to find out if its something internal. Thanx

I'm referring to the linkage from the steering box to the steering wheel. The tubes, knuckles and coupler can be worn prematurely and or damaged from the factory. https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=...79551103230601

There's a stabilizer bar that attaches to the forward ends of the front springs, (cant remember what it is called). If this is not installed the springs can shift back and forth while driving and cause the truck to track off in both directions. When I changed out my front springs I got this bar installed and my truck drove much better, I used to have the problem of the truck moving back and forth and getting pulled into ruts in the road all the time.

Thanx, was busy finishing flatbed install on my p/u and getting ready for snowplowing.I'll take a good look today. My concern is that it comes and goes.sort of like when power steering works fine and then it doesn't for a short time and then comes back. It's mysterious !Probably works fine 90% of time, then its like I have someone next to me tugging the wheel! Gremlins ?

My money is on an internal failure of the steering box. Possibly a metal shaving or some other debris floating around intermittently blocking or jamming something.

My approach would be to see if there is a way to back-flush the system and see if anything comes out. I'd do this to try and save having to remove the steering box and tearing it down.

I've never seen or heard of this before, but if everything else is good as you say, there is nothing else to check.

Have you changed filter and oil to the system. Same pump and reservoir are used for steering and hydro-boost. Reservoir/filter is on drivers side under hood close to firewall.
