Medium Duty LLY Clarification

Hey guys, I've been searching and searching with no direct answer.

A little background. I recently purchased a 2006 C4500 Kodiak with a dismantled LLY that is missing parts. It is a May of 2006 build, eighth digit 2.

I have been reading up on the LLY, and everything I read says the 2006 LLY is a detuned LBZ, and it was available in 2006 only. Great! I'm cool with that! But wait, Kodiak/Topkicks sometimes crossovers with parts, evidenced by the fact that I have recently found a 2007 C5500 locally with an LLY, eighth digit 2 for sale (that shouldn't exist according to most sources)

I do not have my truck in my possession yet, it is being shipped to me in a few weeks. The local '07 LLY is running and I can pick it up as a parts truck for a great price. But my concern is whether I have a true '06 LLY/LBZ or if in early '06 they used up the rest of the '04-'05 LLYs in the medium dutys.

So, after all this, I guess my questions are this:

1. Are all '06 Medium Duty LLY motors the same?

2. If they used both versions of the LLY in '06, how do I tell them apart? (thank you GM for using the same vin code for two different engines)

I just really want to make sure the motors are interchangeable before buying the '07

Thanks for your help!
