Gooseneck/5th Wheel Prep Package

Just picked up my 2016 with the Gooseneck/5th wheel prep package. They didnt have the ball and have to order it so I googled more info.

What was Chevy thinking when they designed that. There is a little "lever" in the ball that you flip up to release the ball. I always grease mine so a rag or gloves would be needed to remove.

At least with the B&W you can grab below the ball and not get covered in grease.

No need to grease them. But it is your truck and trailer.

Response from Curt Mfg (I believe they are manufacturing the ball).

Yes I would lubricate the ball and the toggle to unlock it. Rather than grease I would use spray silicone. This is a littlte lighter and wont hold the road dust to cause internal issues.

That makes sense. There are some really good spray lubes out there now that are not easy like grease.
