5th wheel to gooseneck towing

I am looking at upgrading my truck to a 2011 GMC 3500 DRW. The truck already has a gooseneck hitch, I've looked extensively into how to go from fifth wheel trailer to gooseneck hitch. Anyone with experience doing this? I've seen the B&W companion, changing the trailer to a gooseneck piece, and an adapter to go from 5th wheel to gooseneck. Just seeing what people have done in the past or experienced so far.... Thanks!!

I'm using the BW hitch. I converted my 5th wheel camper to gooseneck. Just got back from a 1500 mile trip . Towed great. Easy on/off.

I made an adapter for my parents fifth wheel camper to hook to a gooseneck ball. Worked great. I know you can buy them but I already had the gooseneck hitch. I know after you unhook the camper you didn't have to deal with the fifth wheel hitch in the bed all the time. Personal preference really.

I have the B&W Companion that goes into the hole for the B&W turnover ball goose. It is a great hitch and I highly recommend the Companion. It is noticeably better feel that the Reese I had before. Very smooth operating and positive locking

Look into the Andersen Ultimate Fifth Wheel hitch. I just recently bought this hitch in the aluminum version and weighs less than 35 pounds. install onto the b&w takes all of about 3 min. It tows my 10k camper perfect and is a breeze to hook up. I love the fact that I can still have the bed of my truck when needed and still be able to pull a Fifth wheel.

I converted the trailer to a gooseneck style hitch using the Reese Goosebox. Works great with the turnover ball hitch in the truck. 2015 Chevrolet 2500HD standard bed duramax

I bought this trailer with a gooseneck adapter already installed from previous owner. We towed it on a 1500 mile trip and and the chucking was so bad that it almost tore the ball off the truck. I had to have it repaired by a welding shop before our trip back home.

I just had the Reese Goosebox 20k dropped off this weekend and hopefully I can get it installed next week to see if it rides better.

You would much better off with an air ride style hitch, Kodiaks have notorious stiff rear suspensions and it will put a lot of stress on your king pin box. Remove eight bolts and mine lifts right off the bed (with the aid of a cherry picker), leaving a totally flat bed.

The Reese Goosebox is an air ride pin box.

I wanted the bed free for when we got to camp so I can still haul the Polaris ranger crew to a trail head and not have to take the hitch off at camp.
