Phat Rat...

Assembled trailer rules are what I need to do as it has no Title & no manufacturer's plate / ID.
Thus requires an inspection, with very specific list of items. Take a look at form TR-54 from the Michigan SOS
Including:
Brakes on all axles (for anything trailer over certain weight)
Lights (specific list)
Safety Chains
etc...

Yes getting it weighed is part of that, but only the easy part.

Thus why I am upgrading the axles. Why throw a couple hundred dollars getting the brakes and wiring correct on some axles I plan to get rid of. Especially when I can buy a completely new one for $325.

I have been through that information many times, thus why I am taking the route I am.
Upgrading the items that need it.

The suspension was subject on the trailer also as bushings / links / bolts / springs have not been treated to well.
When I am done upgrading it will set on all new equipment, with the exception of my truck tires.

All trailers must be registered when used on-road. Additionally, if the trailer weighs over 2,500 lbs. (empty weight), it must be titled as well.

Read #9 I said "Unless the law has changed" Also look at the above which is directly from SOS. If one way or another you can get it below 2500# you don't need a title. Use your imagination IT can be done

I have not had it weighed, but I am sure that would be quite the diet.

Since we have lifetime plates, I don't think I'm going to play the game to forego the title. If I get it done now It will give me much more peace of mind that it is all done right.

I don't want to short cut something that could kill me or someone next to me on the highway. Plus an educated police officer will know and could give some grief if thing are registered incorrectly.

But I do understand your direction of thinking.
