bypassing the factory trailer brake

Ok so I have noticed that when I tow the ABS, and Brake light come on when I am accelerating up hill. It is only under heavy throttle and never happens when I am not towing. When his happens I loose all trailer brakes. I have been told by chevy that it is due to the 35" tires I have. If I bought a aftermarket brake controller would this bypass the factory system? Any help would be great
Thanks

Service trailer brake comes on with any abs fault. Yes, an aftermarket controller can be added, but, have you tried programming the tire size to 34.5"? 35" and up are where the problem lies.

I have the tires programed to 35". I have not tried any other size.
Im just wondering if I put in am after market controller if and when the ABS light comes on will the trailer brakes work. I called a few companies and they have no clue

Yes, you can disable the stock controller, add an aftermarket unit, and...still have trailer braking during a fault event.

Myself, I'd try programming to a 34.5" tire first.

If you insist on a different controller, start here

On a 2015 GMC Sierra 3500HD with trailer towing package, I am assuming that I can install an aftermarket trailer brake controller, plug the harness directly into the brake controller receptacle under left side of instrument panel, and all is good to go. I have not found , or seen, any information that says any other connections, or fuses, are necessary. Curt Manufacturing says it is plugin and go with their controller. eTrailer says it is plugin and go with their controller. This is the information I am finding.
