New TALLER truck

Hey all,
Getting ready to install the 5th wheel hitch in my 2015 2500. Going from an 05 gasser to a 15 diesel the first thing I wonder is, am I going to have to lift my camper? The 15 is stock and I can't even back under the camper with the camper setting as I left it when I parked it last year with the 05. How many of you have had to lift your 5th wheels after buying a new truck (that isn't lifted)? Anyone get by without lifting your camper?

Thanks

I already had the trailer suspension adjusted to the highest setting. Installed 2" longer shackles, removed the factory overload springs because with it lowered it rode too close to overloads, added air bags with Air Lift SmartAir Automatic Leveling System so the truck is the same height loaded or unloaded. Works great for me, no adjusting needed between towing and running empty. Couple of pictures in garage.

The 5th wheel we had (1999 model) had 2 inch tube steel welded to the frame and that axles mounted to that, the tall trucks were just coming out when that trailer was built.

LP Relay mod. Ate a valve, 117,900 Miles. RIP Engine #1,now 2016 GEP Optimizer powered and QuadStar tuned.
1995 GMC C1500 non turbo 6.5L 4L60E xVDOT truck. High Idle mod. Grey PMD on a FSD sync #9 resistor. Vaccum pump removed. No more EGR. Air intake opened up. 3 inch exaust on a high flow muffler. New push rods, Rockers arms at 246k. Was over10,000ths wear on the rocker arms.1998 style High Flow oil pump installed. Spins tires with little throttle again. 6.2 Injectors.Back running 80mph @ 21mpg. All this and now it won't roll black smoke at all. Just acts like a rocket ship 2004 Leather bucket seats from a Tahoe installed. That was a engineering fiasco glad that's over. Dorman PMD now, Grey one died. Tried number 5 resister again went back to a 9 just a dog with out it.OPS sensor rewired to remove load , fuel pump totally rewired as well. Now QuadStar tuned.
I do not recommend headlights made by Winjet.

Depends on the 5th your towing and pin weight. The newer 5th's are generally higher clearance. Have towed a 2011 Montana with a 2011 D/A 2500 and no clearance problems. Towing a 2013 Montana with a 2015 D/A 3500 SRW SB no problems. Pin weigh about 2500 both units.

Lowered the back of mine too. As stated, the newer trailers seem to have better clearance.

Here is a photo of my clearance. My truck is lifted (6 inches) on 35s. Trailer is a 2016 Work and Play 38RLSW. Photos taken on level ground.
