I dont know why no one beleives me. We need to stop trying to second guess these things. The dmax and allison are perfectly matched for eachother and this is what these trucks were designed to do. If you feel that you can make better decisions and handle things better than a state of the art 32 bit transmission computer then you should have bought a manual transmission, because shifting the allison manually and messing around with it will not help your mileage or towing efficency...

JMO!!

Like I said before if I am following some one who doesn't know how to use their right foot on the gas and they can not keep a constant speed and I don't know of any cruse control that uses proximity sensors to tell how close you are to another car or truck in front of you then you have to do things manually. If I am on the open road and no obstructions in front of me I will uew cruse in drive but when you have other idiotis and need to adjust for them the manual mode is pricless.

almost all of the new mercedes, lexus, BMW's, and audi's have this type of cruise control.

All im saying is if you want the truck to run most efficently and get the best gas mileage, leave it in drive. (There are several people from allison on this board who have probably not seen this thread, but if they did they would be telling you the same thing)

but hey, its not my truck

dmax6spd- you only wish your ZF had a .61 overdrive for supercruising when unloaded.

There is no way in hell I want my vehicle to decide when I'm to close to a car.
