Tail Lights

So I was looking at taking the easy way out and just replacing my tail lights instead of sanding/clear coating them. Is it just me or are replacements overpriced for being a 16 year old plain jane consecutive run tail light ?

$81 a side seems a little high, but, for a lower volume production (compared to Silverado/ Sierra), they're not too bad.

I just bought those same lights yesterday...and yes I thought they were over priced but the aftermarket euro set I have are junk the socket connections leak and have started to deform from the heat of the bulbs causing them to leak...one side lower mounting tab is broken off. That's from just 1500miles of use. Since my van is a 2000 I'm going to have to run a converter to get from 3bulb to 2bulb function but I need to get rid of these things..
I should have them by the end of the week, I'll let you guys know how they fit up and what the construction quality looks like.

At this point would be easy to use the clear section to run the amber turn signals, like the rest of the world, and put reverse lights in the bumper.

I was looking at the TYC ones and was hoping for something like $100/pair. I will wait for Len to tell us what he thinks of them before buying.

I got them in this evening, only had a chance to open them up and a quick look over. I can already they are 10x better built than what I have. They do come complete with the harness and bulbs. the finish on the lens is very OEM in appearance...looks good so far. If they fit as good as they look I'll be very happy.
Not sure I'll get to it this weekend (beach camping at San Onofre) so it may be a week or so before I get them in..

I did not even notice they came with harness/bulbs. So that will add a couple of $$ to the cost. I wish they had an option for without since I have been running LED bulbs for like 10 years. I wish an aftermarket company would come out with a simple OEM looking design with top-bottom red, amber and clear.

Yep, I'm sure the harness and bulbs are adding at least $15 per light, in my case the harness was a blessing as it helps me go from 3 to 2 bulb configuration. I actually got some time to work on them today, the fit up is excellent, I've recently installed swing out tire hoops the the upper hinge mount bracket requires the lower forward edge of the tail light assy to be notched to clear it so I got that done and I'm letting the sealant dry (notching drives that). For my 3 to 2 bulb conversion it only required shifting wire positions in the provided harness connector (connector itself was the same) to match the older 2000 model year wiring. 10 minutes to do both so it was a simple fix, nothing you guys will have to deal with at all, they are plug and play for a stock 2003 and later van.
