I have 265's on the rear of mine. Had new bridgestones put on last week. Tire shop wouldnt put the spacers back on. Then they come out and say they are touching when put on. I said put the spacers back in,and they refused. They made me sign a waiver to take the truck with no spacers and 265's. Man I put the spacers back in. That much rubbing cant possibly be good for the tires, thats just my two cents. If they touch here in Pa the tech told me it wont pass inspection.

I'm running 275 60 20's on my 20 inch Fuel wheels. No lift, no rubbing, and the wheel wells are filled in nicely. The rears stick out about an inch.

I did not run spacers until my present set of tires and I have owned my dually now for 12 years. My tires have touched in the past with no ill effect. On my last set of tires before spacers, I did see some rub marks but nothing that was going to cause a tire failure. I went with spacers because I went with wider tire with this set and wanted some space between them because I did not think I could get them to physically bolt up without spacers. Now, I did have an inner tire blow out about 4-5 years ago and it may have blown because a rock got trapped between the two tires but I can't confirm that. That could happen with tires that don't touch so I don't consider that a reason to not have tires touch. So in my experience I have not experienced a degradation in tire life or safety as a result of them touching but mine have never constantly touched in the past like I see on some duallys, usually when I tow they would touch.
