Server 4 Wheel Drive

I have a 2007.5 LMM 3500 SRW 4WD. I have about 71,000 miles on the truck. The truck does not get driven no more the 5000 miles a year the last couple of years. I used it on a camping trip over the 4th of July and everything was just fine with it. I parked it the middle of July and have not driven it since. Monday night I went out to drive it and the batteries were deader then dead. I put in on the battery charger overnight and it started up on Tuesday afternoon without any issues. I now have a service 4 wheel drive light coming up on the DIC and the truck will not go into 4 wheel drive at all now. When the truck is turned on I see a few lights come on, on the 4wd knob. But after that there is no life in the knob at all.

The truck batteries were both replaced in April of this year after the originals finally died a couple of times over the winter.

Anyone got any guesses? I know I can have the stealer read the code with the Tech 2 but I am not paying them $100+ to press a few buttons.

From reading thru various posts and boards. It looks like it could be 3 things, The Knob/Switch itself, the Transfer Case Control Module or the actuator at the diff.

I can get a transfer case module, but parts supplier says it has to be programmed by the dealer. Is that true? Can that be done on the bench or do they have to have the entire vehicle?

Any update on this? There was a TSB out for the dealer to update the module with a new program.
