Caliper Pin Grease Q.

i recently replaced my pins, bushings, and boots on my front brakes. However I had never done this before, and HeyMccal had mentioned using a proper grease to grease my caliper pins I imagine. My question is, Is there a specific type of grease that should be used? Or will the Red and Tacky Industrial grease work? How much do you apply? Thanks in advance.

I bought it at carquest the other day when I did brakes on my car. It was a bit expensive,$16, but everybody says its the best product to use. The container will last forever as mush as I do brakes.

Napa had the same grease in a smaller tube, should cover 3 lifetimes of brake jobs, where the li'l tub will cover 11 lifetimes.

I dont know. I bought a silicone grease from Napa. $6. Just asked for caliper grease. They knew exactly what I was looking for.

javelina, read through the posts in this link. It should help. Heymccall has these brake jobs down to a science.

Plain Silicon grease (OEM, Sil-glyde, etc...) allows for proper sliding , BUT does not STOP corrosion within the bore.

Anti-sieze and most greases will allow proper sliding at assembly time, BUT will soften the rubber components, making them adhesive, and results in calipers that do NOT slide, pads that rattle, etc.

Stalube is the only one that works, IMHO. (BTW, it is available in smaller size packages.)
