Metric tire question

I have 285/75/16's on my duramax with a 6'' RCD lowered down to a 4''. I bought new tires in Oregon. They're 315/75/16. Will these tires rub on the knuckle? There is a very small clearance as the truck sits right now, A friend of mine suggested a 4.5 backspaced wheel.

Or do you guys know a tire size that would get me close to a 35'' but retain the same width as my 285's?

285 is the width, the 75 is "aspect ratio" or how tall it is as a percentage of width. So if you want the same width but taller you need to look at increasing the second number.

A 285/75R16 is about 32.8" in diameter

A 285/85R16 brings you in at 35.1" in diameter

There are several tire size calculators on the web, here is one https://tiresize.com/calculator/

Got it, thank you. Too bad 285/85 isn't a more common size. I can't find anything decent out there

I ran 285/75/17 on H2 Alcoas when I had my LLY. IIRC, they measured 34x11.50. Pics in my garage.
