Buying used Deleted LMM truck

So I am about to purchase a used LMM.

Its been delted and has a single tune. But who knows what tune.

If I want to install a DSP5 switch, and load it with 5 tunes. y understanding is more tuners for these trucks LOCK the ECM. which is dumb. Peopl eback in the first few years of LSX cars used to do this and was a pain in the *** they where worried about people copying tunes and crap. Now days no one locks the tunes, and you can always retune it when you buy something or want to make a change.

So whats the process to retune a truck/ swap tunes.

And I am aware of the deleted issue and tunes Not asking for who to have it done. or where. just asking about the locked ECM/ECM part of redoing what is done and I don't know what is.

for example it could be a milage tune, and I don't want it or could be set on a supe rhot tune and I don't need that when towing kinda deal.

I have a locked single tune along with my OEM ECM.
Only tuner will be able to unlock your ECM but why worry about something that’s most likely not there.
Enjoy your DSP5
Other options, by a new/used ECM, have someone look to see if it’s Locked Dealer/EFILive etc..

You can have a DSP5 and a locked ECM running same time also but it’s not recommended to piggyback.

What is mostlikely not there?

From what I read most tuners for EFI live lock the ECU. SO once I buy this used truck that's got a single tune on it, I cant just cnahge it that's what I am asking.

What it comes down to if you are putting 5 tunes on it...
Don't matter at all whats on it. It will be overwritten. Should be if you don't know its provenance.
Have your tuner start with stock for your ecu, do the updates, then ->Get the 5 what you want.

Got ya, that answers my question. I can RETUNE over the old locked tune from previous owner with no issues.

you just cant pull the tune off and read the old tune.

Hopefully that's correct,

But on other GM cars with HP tuners (LSX stuff).. if you LOCK the tune/ECU...

you can not re wright ontop of it with a new Tune...... so the tuner has to unlock it... and if its a use car and you don't know who tuned it your shipping for a new computer...

so this makes me wonder on the EFI live side of the house/ duramax computers.

locking the tune only means you cant read it.
