School me on custom factory ordering

I have been debating ordering a truck, but I am a little confused on the whole process. You can go on the GM website and build a truck, but it seems like they often force you into their packages. Alternatively you can use the GM fleet order guide and find all the factory RPO codes.

Can I build and order a truck based of the RPO codes alone or do I have to use the GM curated packages? I can reference that order guide and make sure I don't choose things that have dependencies or unavailable options. But I want specific things form a package that are available, but not other things.

For example:
From the AT4 Premium package
- I want the upgraded radio and Bose sound system, but I don't want the sliding rear window or driver alert package.

Is it possible to order based on RPO codes alone? As in I just send a list of RPO codes to a dealer and ask them for a quote. I'd prefer to avoid the cookie cutter packages that bolt on much more technology than I'd prefer.

I ordered about 30 new vehicles before retiring at 49. Go to you dealer for they have more resources than what’s online. It sucks you have to spend $3000 just for one thing that’s in a Package you would looked but that’s the way it is. Sometimes the can find one that’s all ready built to your liking. I’ve got new ones few states away if you don’t won’t to wait.
You need to go to the dealer for ordering. They do have special codes for things you don’t won’t.
